Morse Runner is a Windows-based contest simulator developed by Alex Shovkoplyas, VE3NEA. Using Wineskin, it has been successfully and seamlessly run under OSX, and made available here for download. Sure, you could use Wineskin to do this yourself (and save me some bandwidth), or you can pull the ready-made dmg from here.

If you own or manage IP security cameras, follow these mitigation steps immediately to ensure they do not appear in Google Dork results: Step 1: Enable Strong Authentication

Search engines like Google use automated bots to map the entire internet. If a camera is mapped to a public IP address via UPnP and lacks a robots.txt file to block search crawlers, Google will naturally discover the index.shtml page, read its contents, and index it into public search results. This article explores what this query does, why it is used, the security implications of finding such results, and how to protect websites from being exposed in this manner. 1. Deconstructing the Search Query

Let’s walk through a hypothetical scenario to illustrate the risk.

Using this query to access private, password-protected, or restricted content without permission is illegal and unethical. This guide is for legitimate security research, authorized auditing, and educational purposes only. Access to source code allows attackers to look

The search query inurl:view index.shtml full is a specific "Google dork" used to identify internet-connected devices, specifically network cameras, that are running outdated or misconfigured web interfaces. This dork exploits a default file naming convention ( index.shtml ) and directory structure often associated with specific IP camera firmware (notably older Axis Communications cameras). The exposure of these devices poses significant privacy and security risks, as they often provide unauthorized access to live video feeds and administrative interfaces without requiring authentication.

Here is a comprehensive breakdown of how this search string works, why it exposes private devices, and how to secure vulnerable systems. Technical Breakdown of the Query these cameras are "full" or "open

MorseRunner.dmg

Confirmed working on: El Capitan, Mavericks, Sierra, High Sierra, & Mojave

MANY reports that it DOES NOT work on Catalina. It is very unlikely that it will work under Catalina in the near future, as it would require some pretty hefty development on Wine (they're working on it). The only other option I see is for some nice macOS developer to take the original code (it's open source!) and re-write it to run natively on 64bit macOS (go ask any developer, this is a lot of work). Since Xcode is now free if you're running Catalina, I'm happy to give it a try... when I can afford to buy a system that can run Catalina :)
