Proteus Mc1496 Lib Jun 2026

Unlike modern microcontrollers (like an STM32 or Arduino) which have specific, branded libraries in the Proteus Center, the MC1496 is a "primitive" analog component.

Once you have obtained the files (typically a .MOD file and possibly a .LIB file), you need to integrate them into Proteus.

The MC1496 is renowned for its excellent performance, particularly its high carrier suppression of -65 dB typical at 500 kHz. It is designed to operate effectively from audio frequencies up to approximately 300 MHz. Proteus Mc1496 Lib

If you cannot find a dedicated .LIB file, download the (a .cir or .lib text file). Using the "System > Compile Models" feature in Proteus, you can convert standard SPICE subcircuits into Proteus primitives. This is advanced but yields the most accurate simulation.

By default on Windows: C:\ProgramData\Labcenter Electronics\Proteus 8 Professional\LIBRARY (Note: ProgramData is hidden; you might need to show hidden files.) Unlike modern microcontrollers (like an STM32 or Arduino)

Apply the same sine wave to both signal and carrier inputs. The output should be a DC-offset cosine wave at double the frequency (frequency doubling). Test the model’s linearity by sweeping the input amplitude.

Often, you will also need a corresponding .IDX file (an index file). If the package you downloaded does not include one, Proteus may generate it automatically when you first use the component.
